Product Description
The 30mm foam washer silencer is compatible with Sanwa/Seimitsu buttons. Installing one of these foam washer silencers into your button, will help reduce the click of the button press. Now you have the ability to silence Sanwa OBSN screw buttons, or the more recent translucent OBSC buttons and Seimitsu buttons, including the popular PS-14-KN. The 1mm foam washer is shaped to fit in both Sanwa and Seimitsu 30mm buttons.
Please Note:
The Silencer pads are compatible with Hori's Kuro button, but not the more recent matte version due to its construction.
Unique Shape And Material:
Silencer is a 1mm foam washer that conforms to the internal housing of Sanwa and Seimitsu's 30mm button lineup. It also utilises small "tabs" at each end of the washer, which additionally absorb the sharp sound created as the button plunger's tab meets the rim. Sanwa and Seimitsu - for copyright purposes - deliberately orient their plunger tabs differently from one another. Silencer's tabs can be oriented horizontally or vertically for Sanwa or Seimitsu's unique housing. For Sanwa OBSF, OBSN, OBSC and Seimitsu PS-15 buttons, Silencer's tabs can be snipped off without affecting its ability to reduce noise.
Silencer's foam material was chosen for the closest match to Sanwa's original foam washers. For increased durability, an incredibly thin and flexible plastic film was placed on one side.
Installation:
installing the Silencer foam pads into a Sanwa or Seimitsu button is straightforward. Place the washer - plastic film side down - into the button housing. Align the small tabs so that they stick out of the holes on each side of the housing. For Seimitsu PS-15 low profile buttons, snip the tabs off with scissors and place into the housing.
Months Of Play-Testing, Sound And Endurance Tests:
The objective of Silencer is to provide an alternative washer for Sanwa and Seimitsu buttons that effectively reduces noise, but also matches the actuation ability and natural feel in Sanwa's OBSFS offering. To do this, we sent prototypes of the washer - originally in clear silicone and later foam - to a group of dedicated testers. Over several months, we learned that foam was more effective in matching Sanwa's original washer and absorbing shock while matching the actuation of Sanwa's own product. We also learned that "springiness" and "mushiness" was an undesired factor in other washers - first with our silicone prototypes, and later with competing solutions.
Further, we performed blind tests with individuals and groups, who assumed that Sanwa's OBSFS buttons were installed. The washers were taken to tournaments in Philadelphia and utilised in joysticks swapped amongst players during the events. Those using Silencers indirectly reported no differences in feel to our testers; they didn't feel "springy" or"mushy", and were able to tap away normals, links and combos as they always did.
Finally, we performed tests in Seimitsu's PS-14-K and KN series of buttons. The KN was most compatible due to its internal housing; Silencers proved effective for both in muffling sound while not restricting their unique feel. Though we couldn't perform blind tests, players that did use them were quite pleased that pads were designed for Seimitsu.

Good for Sanwa, not well for seimitsu
This foam has performed well on sanwa obsf series. However, it's silencing capabilities don't do as much when used of seimitsu buttons. The shape is a little too small and misses certain areas that hits with the plunger and makes the noises. Plus, overall you can emulate this foams functionality by cutting a few pieces of thin cloth into appropriate circle sizes and inserting them into the buttons instead.

30mm Foam Washer Silencer For Sanwa/Seimitsu Buttons
not silent but they take away a lot of the noise and give a nice fell to the button press

Soften buttons a fair bit
I bought these to use with Sanwa OBSJ-30 buttons (Gold metallic) easy enough to fit, you can remove the button plunger by pressing the tabs with a screwdriver and then these foam discs just drop in (shiney side down). They have little tabs that fit in the holes in the buttons to keep them in position. Pop the plunger back in and that's it! The buttons aren't silent but they are a bit quieter, they also feel softer and more premium. These cost next to nothing so I'd recommend adding them to any order for the Sanwa buttons.

Excellent silent rubber stuff
Really recommend to anyone who is looking for something not to annoying members of your family by noisy buttons. It reduces noise very effectively. Personally l think that with them pressing buttons is much comfortable as well. Really recommend again.

Totally inferior to the 'silent' Sanwa foam!
I bought a few as a test, and put them on the 2 buttons I don't use. They made some sound difference from original Sanwa buttons, but not even close the the Silent Sanwa foam. The feeling is OK, but not more, they don't make the buttons feel 'numb'. But I guess there is a reason the Sanwa foam and Sanwa silent buttons are always sold out!

Silencers
Great products and great service as well. The delivery arrived without any problems or defects. The silencer really reduces the noise from button clicks and is easy to install. Would definitely recommend to a friend.

Works like a charm for sanwa buttons, not as much for Hori Hayabusas.
The install was easy on both sanwa OSBFs and Hori Hayabusa buttons (although you have to cut the "wings" with a scissor in order to make them fit in the hayabusas) but while I really enjoyed the feel on the sanwas with silencers installed, the Hori buttons which are VERY short travel to begin with got me a bit dissapointed. Sure, I have no complaints on the noise reductional abilities on them, but it felt like the travel on the buttons got almost too short. A bit like a "touch button" more than a mechanical one. They're still playable but dont feel as good as they did before. With that said, I recommend these to everyone thinking of putting silencers in their sanwas, you get the travel a bit shorter on the button, but the feel is intact.

Perfect
I installed these shiny side down as instructed into Sanwa OBS 30 buttons and they fit perfectly. They seem to stand up well to the abuse of rapid button press games and reduce a lot of the noise. It no longer sounds like I'm an angry woodpecker trying to get through the controller housing. Not totally silent but much, much better. Well worth investing in spares to keep handy.

Silence is golden
Very easy upgrade to add to your existing or new buttons, just a couple of lugs to press in slightly to remove the button head and in these go, they fit like a glove. Press the button head back on and no more clicking buttons. Works a treat.
