Great little kit for a starter project. I would recommend this for a first time bar top build where you would want to keep your spend to a minimum.
Assembly is a doddle and feels very sturdy when secured with the bolts.
Space is very limited within the control panel area. In my case, using the Suzo Happ Competition Joystick and Suzo Happ buttons, the front panel far left button won't fit into the unit as it's obstructed by the joystick base. I'm sure there are joystick / button combinations that would remedy this, speak with Andy for advice.
    Overall, very pleased!

i went and collected this kit from the warehouse, thanks for letting me do this. ive looked at dozens of kits and ways of doing this and this one is definitely the best one. it took 20 minutes to build and looks fantastic. no messing about getting perspex cut as its all included. dot mess about, just buy one.

    Fantastic value and build quality

Posted by Toby on 3rd Jul 2017

I bought this cabinet and a 2-player button/joystick set, and I'm blown away by how easy it is to install and the overall quality of the build; it is fantastic. It was delivered quickly, and the attention to detail was clear straight away once I saw the care that had gone into the packaging.

If you're going for a Raspberry Pi build, there's plenty of space in the cabinet to include a small amplifier and a 6-way ac mains adapter (as I did – really makes installation quick and easy, as there's no faffing with electronics). Alternatively, you could probably fit a JAMMA machine and power supply in there too, but it would be a bit more snug – you might be better off going for the full-size bartop cabinet. Another review mentions difficulty with installing the buttons – just install them before you fit the control panel, and it's easy.

Because of the small profile of the cabinet, it fits easily in my living room, and it's easily transportable (will be setting it up at my wedding ceremony soon!)

The only thing I can think of to improve the cabinet would be plexiglass to cover the screen – but this is a budget option, after all! If you're on the fence about this, just get it (or any other XCADE flat pack; I'm assuming they're all as good as this one).

    Fab little cabinet

Posted by Steve on 17th May 2017

Great little cabinet - fits together easily and looks fantastic.

Solid build quality, and looks the absolute business with a nice bit of T-moulding on it. Also small and light enough to move around easily, which is perfect if you want to show it off when you have people round.

The space inside the cab is obviously limited - this is especially true for the main controller cavity for joystick and buttons. I'd recommend that you speak to ArcadeWorld and try and get a set of buttons that aren't too long. I used the classic arcade buttons which are fab, but the length with the microswitches attached made it a very tight fit to get everything fitted in, requiring lining up the switches so that they aren't clashing against each other.

If I built another one, I'd look for shorter buttons, as this would make assembly and maintenance loads easier.
