The Seimitsu LS-40-01 joystick is very similar to the LS-40. This model of the joystick has its microswitches soldered to a PCB and connects via a 5-pin cable.
The LS-40-01 joystick comes with a flat SE mounting plate, dust cover, shaft cover, LB-35 handle and a 2, 4 & 8 way adjustable gate.

Had a cheap HORI fightstick mini and was having trouble with relativelly precise movements in shmups. Bought myself a used Mad Catz SF4 FightStick with the plan to mod it for shmup use. Researched the recommended sticks for shmups (LS-32 and 40) and ended getting this one since people were praising it for its precision. Love it.
Very good stick, prefer this to the sanwa JLF- TP-8YT as it has a shorter throw so I can make smaller movements ( makes big difference for the older games like kof 98, SSFT2 etc, new games are more forgiving with the inputs). Quick spring back to neutral also. Of interest if using a 5 pin connector it has to be used the other way round to the sanwa to register all directions.
I have this and the LS-58. This is stiffer but doesn't suffer from pivot grinding like the LS-58 does. It's a little bit stiffer in comparison, but its short throw really helps. I would say it's more adequate for shmups than fighting games.
Mounted this in a Mayflash MF002 by removing the acrylic plexiglass top and screwing into the metal plate to give the correct height. Definitely worth the little extra effort as I beat my all-time high score on Donpachi on the second attempt! Cannot go wrong with a Seimitsu LS-40-01 and some Seimitsu PS-14-G buttons. Thank you Arcade World UK for providing such an excellent service. . . and improving my precision!
Bought two of these to replace the stock sticks on my Pandora’s Box. What a difference! Great all round stick for fighters and shmups.
Very responsive better than ls32 I like sanwa and seimitsu they are both very good in arcade joysticks and buttons
I tried 3 Sticks, Sanwa JFL default, 2lb, 4lb, KOWAL Acutator,
the Seimitsu LS-32 also, but the best is Seimitsu LS-40-01 without a doubt..
Great throw range, no pivot popping issue like the LS-32. The trow range feels even better than my Sanwa JFL with KOWAL 1mm oversize actuator.
Like always fast delivery, again guys from Germany.. Order here, you are much saver! Thx Arcadeworlduk !
I just mounted this stick on my Qanba Q4RAF and the difference is huge. This stick is so much more responsive than the sanwa JLF. It fits perfectly for fighting games (tested on SF5, all moves come out easily). If you plan to mount it on a Qanba Q4RAF, you will need to remove the mounting plate, save the screws and fix the stick directly on the Q4RAF panel. The ls 40 to me is the ultimate all round stick. It has a smooth pivot, tight action. Works great for fighters shmups alike.
