The Sanwa JLF-TP-8YT-SK is a high quality joystick, manufactured in Japan by Sanwa Denshi Co. This is the joystick of choice for fighting game enthusiasts, especially Street Fighter fanatics. Widely used in MadCatz & QanBa fight sticks and many Japanese arcade machines. Each joystick comes complete with a flat mounting plate, 2 x dust covers, TP-MA board with soldered microswitches, black JLF-CD shaft cover & a 35mm ball top handle. This joystick features light spring pressure but can easily be modified if you prefer a stiffer feel, by adding a different spring, such as a Seimitsu LS-55 spring.
By default, this joystick has a square restrictor gate and is set to 8 way. This can easily be changed to 4 way mode by simply removing the plastic restrictor, lifting the centre piece and rotating it to the 4 way position. We also sell the Sanwa GT Y Octagonal Gate if you prefer more precise 8 way control for games like Street Fighter, which will allow you to pull off combo moves with ease.
Connecting To A Screw Terminal PCB:
To connect the Sanwa JLF-TP-8YT-SK joystick to a screw terminal PCB such as the I-PAC2, you would choose the JLF-H cable option.

Sanwa JLF Joystick Product Codes Explained
There is often some confusion with the product codes for Sanwa joysticks and we often get asked to explain/help with the different codes. To try and explain the product codes, please see below. We hope this information helps and makes the different models of joystick easier to understand.
The most popular model with flat mounting plate attached.
Same joystick as the JLF-TP-8YT but with the flat mounting plate removed
Same Joystick as the JLF-TP-8Y but with a JLF-P-1S stepped mounting plate attached
JLF-CD Shaft Cover Set
By adding a black shaft cover set to the above models adds -SK to the end of the product code. For example: a JLF-TP-8YT fitted with a black shaft cover set becomes a JLF-TP-8YT-SK.

Bought this stick to upgrade my Mayflash F500 V2 along with the JST-XH lead. Couldn't be easier to fit and feels pretty damn sweet to use. Found it instantly an improvement over the stock lever.
Great stick. Feels good, swapped the tension spring just through preference as I've got a battop on mine.
The stock Hori Hayabusa joystick in a Hori RAP4 Kai isn't bad but it isn't perfect. I found on some games it isn't as responsive as it should be which is bizarre given it uses Omron microswitches. I also found it a little too loose. It improved with a KOWAL Hayabusa Octopus Octagonal Restrictor Gate but I swapped the whole thing for this Sanwa JLF-TP-8YT-SK and it is definitely superior. The engineering is better, it's more responsive, it's tighter, smoother and more effortless to use. I've used it with a Sanwa GT-Y Octagonal Restrictor Gate. I was an Arcade King during the 80s / 90s and have used many joysticks on many different machines. I play games using MAME on a Windows PC like Nemesis, R-Type, Truxton, Street Fighter various versions etc. Many thanks to Arcade world for having such an extensive range, speedy delivery and for keeping the arcade arena alive!
Had for few years, can withstand even the most tilting players..
While I cannot yet speak for its longevity, it seems to be a very high quality product with a solid feel to it.
is my first purchase, first of all arcadeworld.uk compliments from them ,( here in Italy venice) the package arrived in just 5 days from shipment. no ups normal express delivery For joystyck Sanwa they do not serve simply have presentations just inform online to find out which is the best in its category, I still have to mount it so my review is only on low feelings offline, with a small surcharge the SK version offers the additional black cover .
I've tried a lot of joysticks (Hori Hayabusa, Seimitsu LS-32 etc. etc.) but at the end of the day I prefer the feeling of the JLF. I really like the looseness of this stick. The previous one, mounted on a MadCatz TE, lasted me about 2500 hours of gameplay, so it's very reliable too.
The Sanwa JLF is a smooth and sensitive joystick. For the best results with this joystick in my opinion a quick but relaxed hand is needed. This stick has decent engage and throw but the switches are sensitive so again it is good to keep a relaxed hand when using the stick to allow the switches to release, when dashing for example. Upon first impression I noticed that the stick had a rapid and responsive feel but at the same time it felt too loose for my hand. Although with the stock spring it was useable for me, I opted into getting a stiffer Seimitsu LS-55 spring which gave the stick a firmer feeling without being to stiff. Starting out using the JLF I didn't like using the square gate as my inputs would always stop due to hitting the corners, so I opted into trying a circular and octagonal gate, the octagonal being what I preferred for a short time before going back the the square due to missing diagonals. For anyone having issues with a square gate when performing motions, I advise not hitting the corners when performing them as this slows down the input, try moving the stick within the gate or at least again try not to hit the corners. The square gate I find works well for finding diagonals for jumping, blocking, charging and dragon punch motions. I've had this stick for over 6 months now and during that time I've grown to enjoy using this joystick, although the JLF takes time to get used to especially if you're a pad user as I was, I definitely recommend this joystick for anyone making the switch from pad due to the customisability and smooth motion of the joystick.
It is quieter than my stock joystick as well as being smoother and more responsive.
