    Fantastic

I've never built anything which involves wiring so when I decided to build my own arcade cabinet I was a bit nervous about getting it right. Thanks to Andy for giving me very helpful advice and for providing such a great service with arcade world. I can't recommend arcade world highly enough. Cheers

Great but not mindblowingly fantastic (as expected)

Great price! Great shipping costs and time! Great packaging! Great quality! The joystick was smaller than expected, but absolutely useable! Recommended for people building their own control-board or 1player arcade-machine!

    Good kit for the price

Posted by Ian on 3rd Dec 2015

I bought this kit along with a pre-made wooden box to build a controller as a weekend project with my 5 year old. Other than drilling the holes in the box and fitting a few of the spade connectors, he managed to do it all. It took about 2 hours in total. We've used it with mame on both a windows PC and a linux NUC and it works fine with both of them. There's some photos of the process here: http://blog.ijbrown.net/2015/11/building-retro-joystick.html

The one small issue I have is that when using the joystick for 8 way movement, you need to have the stick exactly in the corner for it to register a diagonal. Just a few mills out and it will register an u/d/l/r direction. This makes playing something like gauntlet tricky which requires diagonal shooting quite often. My aim with this kit was really to see what the components were like and to help decide what I wanted to buy in the future when I build a full cabinet ... so I will probably buy a different joystick which has a greater diagonal zone for 8 way play.
The buttons have a convex top - which I quite like, but my wife prefers concave ones.
I'll certainly order again - the goods were as I expected and arrived quickly.

    First time arcade build

Posted by Steve. on 5th Nov 2015

This was my first attempt at building an arcade controller, the order was delivered on time & correct parts / colours as selected, very well packed.
Pleased with the quality of the buttons & joystick, instructions consisted of a function / pin layout of the board supplied, which could be a little confusing for someone with no experience in electronics or wiring. However everything worked with the MAME software & very pleased with the result. Would buy again.

    Very good service

Posted by simon on 18th Dec 2014

Very pleased with this set. I quickly figured out how to wire the buttons and they worked just as I hoped they would. I had to get a new dust cover for the joystick because it had a small crack and I emailed arcade world who sent me a new one, no hassle and they sent it out that day. Very good company and I will defintely use them again.
